I have a background in engineering that shows up in my sociological work through a tendency toward tool-building. I enjoy coding things that I can use to facilitate my research on social interaction, which I make publicly available whenever possible. My recent work has been primarily in R, but I also have experience with Python and with mobile app development in Flutter.

bayesactR

An R package that serves as a wrapper for BayesACT, a program implementing a Bayesian extension of affect control theory.

actdata

An R package containing standardized versions of most publicly available affect control theory data sets.

DiscussIt and UniteDem

Mobile messenger apps for iOS and Android, developed using Flutter. Used by myself and members of the Duke Polarization Lab to run experiments on the effects of identity labels on influence in anonymous political conversation.
